Q: Should I get a certified used 2007 Audi S4 or a new 2010 Audi A4?
My price range accommodates either choice. I would prefer the performance of the S4, but it is less fuel efficient.
A: The S4. The fuel efficiency on the S4 is phenomenal, especially for all the power. You really won’t find too much of a difference between them when it comes to fuel efficiency.
2007 S4s aren’t turbo anymore, so as long as you aren’t stomping on the accelerator all the time it will be fine. I drive the bi-turbo generation and it’s great on gas.
Repairs on the S4 aren’t too bad – especially if you are comparing it to the newer Audis. As long as you keep up with the regular maintenance (including things like the timing belt/water pump, spark plugs, etc.) the car should last you for a decade! lol
Q: Used 2000 audi s4 quattro good as a good car?
86000 miles for 10995 dollars
Are audis reliable?
Whats the cost of tuning one?
Cost of maintenance?
Anyways i plan on tuning this one up to make it faster?
Details:
V6 turbo
manual
has a bose sound system?
Any other cars you recommend for using as a tuner?
this will be my first car
A: Older Audis are generally not that reliable
The turbos are known to go out on the S4s and have to be replaced
IT is very easy to tune though, you can put on new turbos or even just increase the boos and get 400WHP+ out of it with no trouble
Q: Should I buy a used Audi A4 or Audi S4?
I am looking into buying a new (used) car, and have decided on an audi. I have found a used 1999 A4 Quattro which is in very good condition for $3500 being sold in my town, But have also found a 2001 S4 BiTurbo for $5700 which is also in very good condition. Is it worth it to spend the extra 2k for the V6 S4? I am a college student and currently only do have $6200 in my bank account and cant decide which is the better option
A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here – carquotes.fateback.com
Q: Can a Audi s4 2002 engine or RS4 2005 engine be used to replace the engine in a 2002 Audi A4 3.0 quattro sport?
A: Firstly, the RS4 was not produced in the year 2005, and even if it were, it would be the wrong chassis…
Secondly, it is possible to swap an A4 3.0 engine for a S4 engine, but it does not make much sense in the long run. Assuming that you are paying for labor to have the engine swapped (not doing it yourself), the cost of selling your car and then buying a used S4 would be cheaper.
Also, it would save you a headache from the other parts that you would have to swap out…youll need to change to the 6-speed box, swap out the drive shaft and parts of the suspension, and the hardest part- finding a loom from an S4, just to name some of the process…
Honestly, unless you can find a VERY cheap engine and drivetrain AND are planning to do all the work yourself, selling your A4 and buying an S4 would be a more cost-effective solution to your problem…
But those swaps have been done before, so if you decide to go with it, good luck and have fun
Q: Audi A5 or S4(2006+), used, which one is better choice?
I like A5(3.2 or 3.0TDI) interior and exterior very much, + it’s newer then S4.
But S4 got better performance and doesn’t look bad anyway + it can be modded easily over time.
What do you guys reckon would be better choice between these two?
Oh and please no answers about insurance.
A: if u r looking to modify u go with the S4 twin turbo serious power 450HP
if u want to go with the A5 thats already NICE
well u could modify over time
i say S4 baby smooking power
Q: Isn’t Audi b6 S4 one of the unloved generation of a great car?
Hi,everyone.
I’m in the process of moving to Napa, California from Boston, as I’ve been reassigned and located by my superior. Without much heistation,I had to sell two of my cars I own as I’ll mostly like not return to Massachusettes and if I were to come back to East Coast, It’d be down in Connecticut. So I’ve sold my recently acquired Volvo S70 T5, 04′ silver Toyota 4 Runner Limited. (I bought and owned an B5 S4 for two years and it is now my father’s pride as it is always parked in a heated garage at my parent’s house in Los Gatos ,California.)
Still in the process of moving, I spent most of my time at my new place, as I’m still excepting few boxes to arrive from the previous place in the Freezing East. As house is coming along great, I’ve found myself desperate for a vehicle once again. Unlike East, I’m reminded by everyone that I don’t have to worry about the rust and when I’m searching for a vehicle.
Which directly leads to my question,
I’m in a market for a used Audi S4 once again. As it is discreet and does everything I’m looking for in a car and since I still have the B5 at my parents’ house, I’ve thought it was waste of my money to look for another B5. So with B5 crossed out of my list, there came the B6. Eversince the B6 came out, I loved its simple yet improved design of good B5 and the lusty V8.
I’ve looked everywhere trying to find the perfect B6 S4 for me, so here are my questions.
how much does an b6 S4 cost today?
And did ever caught same amount of popularity as the B5?
Regardless of your answers, I’ll find the B6 of my dreams, and own it forever. Any answer will be apperciated. Thank You,
Justin Han
A: I think any S4 will be appreciated by Audi fans for the rest of time. I also think the B5 that is sitting in your parents garage will begin appreciating in value shortly. I think the B6 will begin to appreciate in value as well over time.
I took a B6 S4 on an overnight test drive a couple years ago and really liked the car. The only problem I had with it was that I was always stepping on it and constantly speeding. I can also say the car is absolutely horrible on gas. But that is probably due to my aggressive driving habits.
Check out www.motorcarenthusiast.com. It’s a vintage, exotic and luxury car trading post. They’ve got a great selection of B6 S4’s in their Audi Quattro section.
Good luck with your search…
Q: how reliable are audi s4’s?
i have been reading alot about how s4’s are not reliable. but from what i have read it seems like most problems arise when the owner upgrades the performance because it puts more stress on the engine.
so if i bought an audi s4 used with around 50,000 miles, keep it stock, and drive it casually will i still have problems? how much maintaining is really required?
A: S4’s are extremely reliable. I have owned mine for about 6 years and have had minimal issues. And yes, people that choose to upgrade their S4’s are definitely more prone to reliability issues, but that is because they drive them very very hard.
If you stay stock and drive casually, you will have no problems (so long as the previous owner has kept up with the scheduled maintenance)…I have put about 134k miles on mine, kept up with the maintenance, and have only had 3 problems, all of which resulted from an oil leak that my mechanic overlooked (blown gasket, etc)…
As far as the cost of maintenance, I will be honest, it’s not cheap…but if you keep up with your maintenance schedule, you will avoid all of the costly repairs.
I will tell you right now, if you buy an S4, it will be the greatest automotive purchase you will ever make. There is nothing like hearing those turbos spool up! I know that after my S4 dies (trying to make it to 220k miles), I’m going to get another one!
email me if you have more questions about the S4 (scottyshades@yahoo.com)

Q: I love the audi s4 car but is really expensive, even used. Are there any cars that are similar to it that you?
A: The most beautiful cars are always very expensive .-
Q: Is there an alternative car to an Audi S4 that I should consider?
I’m considering buying a sub-£25000 Audi S4… I really want a Nissan Skyline GTR34, but my wife and my job make it impractical. Used to have a ‘97 Porsche 911, but now I need something more sensible and everyday, with similar power.
It has to be a 4 seat car for commuting in to town… Lots of power, but a car that has a sensible image for first impressions. Was considering a BMW 6 series, but at the end of the day, I will need to be let out of junctions in London…
Any suggestions?
A: For the price there is nothing like an S4. Depending on the year you can either get the twin turbo V-6 with about 236 BHPor the 350 BHP V-8. The all weel drive and the four door make this a little different. The M3 could be and option from BMW but you only get 2 doors. You could go with an Evo or an STI but those two arnt to economical. So, no, i dont think you have a different choice for the price.
Q: Which used car would you prefer(for same $)? 06 Audi S4 with ~30k miles or 07 328i coupe with ~20k miles ?
AWD and HP of Audi is really tempting (also the S badge), but ppl say BMW is truly a better handling car. I’ve had A4 before and liked the solidness, but never driven a bimmer before.
A: It’s up to you and what you want. You are comparing a one year older sport version with 10k (25%) more miles to a newer, non-sport version.
The S version of the Audis and the M-version of the BMWs are performance-tuned models of their base models. Very performance oriented, stiffer ride, more power, better handling, and a bit more expensive to maintain than the standard A4 / 3-series.
If you live in an area with winter driving AWD will make your life a lot easier; chains are no fun to put on. People dont say the BMW is a better handling car in the snow and rain!
I strongly suggest you _drive_ both and compare. If the driving test doesn’t sell you on the S4, buy the newer car with less miles. If you want the AWD but dont care about the performance of the S model, look at A4s.
Q: Looking at used a Audi? Anyone got one?
I’m looking for used cars and I found this sleek Audi S4 Sedan. Test drove it and it seems to ride great. It had about 96,000 miles going for around 10K. Anyone have this car? Suggestions? Anything is appriciated.
A: That is a low price for the car i would expect to have a few repairs they are a great car but can be expensive to maintain. fun to drive and fast. learn to do as much of you own maintenence as possible and you will probably love this car. If you take it to the dealer for every little thing it will dime you to death. i would buy the car and maintain it myself. The link below is a good place to get answers about the car and what maintence it will need.
Q: 07 Audi s-line wagon or used 06 s4 wagon?????
A: If you find a good conditioned used 06 model then I would recommend you jump into that. Have you looked around or asked a dealer if there are still new 06 S4 wagons on the lots as they may have some big incentive programs to move these year end models.
If there is not a lot of price difference between a 07 model and a used 06 then I would jump into a 07 model this way you get 1 more year warranty and as well you know how it has been treated.
Good Luck

i bought a 2010 audi s4, and it came with summer tires. New jersey have snow every winter year. is it going to be faster if i use high performance all season tires than using summer tires? i really don’t know if summer tires are good for near freezing temperatures and more than 5 inches of snow. i need a helpp
A: Mine came with summer tires also. Just bought a set of Blizzak’s and some cheap rims for the winter. Never had a problem yet.
